How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as real media text? My magazine can target a large range of people because anybody could be interested in a healthy eating recipe magazine. Typically, I would say people who are 20 and older and are cooking for themselves. Mothers would be targeted as well, since they are always trying to find new recipes to make for their family. Generally, the gender that would be most targeted would be women, but men who like to cook could also be engaged by my product.  My product would mostly be engaged with audiences who are able to speak English. Mostly, sold in America, but could be sold in other places like Canada. The magazine price would be an average price ranging from 10-15 dollars. However, to make the actual recipes in the magazine would require you to be able to buy lots of ingredients. Mainly, this would just target anyone who has a decent income and is able to support themselves and has enough ...

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? My magazine follows many of the same conventions that the other food magazines have. My magazine or any magazine uses conventions to persuade the customer into buying it. Cover: My cover states the most delicious and interesting things, and mentions the amount of recipes that there will be in the magazine. There are Buzzwords on the front cover that will tell the buyer some of the interesting articles that can be found in the magazine. They are free and exclusive and for my target audience and this is used well to attract them. The main image represents the idea of my magazine which is healthy eating. The picture is a low angle shot of produce. It is very vibrant and it is an image that would be appealing to the audience. My Masthead on the cover is very large and bold. On every magazine I have researched, they do this because the title is very important and it is done to catch the...

Revised Article

Image
Old Article Revised Article The feedback I got on my articles was to add columns, more pictures and change the font. The first thing I did was pick out the pictures I could add in my magazine. On the first page, I removed the meal picture and put that on my second page. I replaced the completed meal picture with two different pictures. One is of the ingredients you will need to make this meal and then second picture is of my mom cutting the salmon. On my second page of the article, I have the completed meal picture and then I added two more pictures. I have a close up of the sweet potatoes and then a picture of the food in the oven. I tried to use pictures that represented different types of shots and angles. The picture of my mom is a high angle mid-shot. The next thing I changed on my article was the font of the title "Dill Salmon." I changed the font to Broadway to make it look fancier. Since I added more pictures, I had to readjust my text on both pages, ...

Revised Contents

Old Contents Page                                  Revised Contents Page I revised several things on my contents page. I kept the original layout of it because I thought it looked nice and there were no comments made about me needing to fix it. I changed one of the articles though. It was "5 smart foods," but i decided to change it to "All kinds of produce" so it could correspond with the cover photo that I have. I changed all the pictures on the right side. I was told that I should vary the different types of pictures that I have and that I shouldn't have similar angles or photo types. The first one is supposed to be a mid-shot because it shows some of my mom and the plate with the food on it. The second picture is an over-the-shoulder shot. The third picture is a close-up. I added t...

Revised Cover

Image
Old Cover Page I changed a lot of things on my cover. I took in consideration all the feedback and revised my magazine to the best of my ability. On my cover page I was told that I should vary my photos. I was given some advice on what photo ideas I could do. Walt's fish market or a picture with my mom smiling were a couple ideas that was given to me. I decided that I would just do something that was easier for me and go to a grocery store and take a picture of the produce area. I went to target because it was in my area and was convenient for me at the time. It happened on a Saturday and it wasn't planned. I knew that it would be colorful and a nice touch to the cover so I thought it would be a great idea. I also added a filter from the app VSCO  so the colors would pop out more. I asked my mom to be in the photo and to act natural and she make it look natural. Another piece of advice that was given to me was that I should change my fonts and colors.  For my tit...

Distribution Plan

For a traditional distribution method, I would  look at the magazines circulation figures. I would try to make them grow  by talking to experts. I would also use the latest software to increase my magazine circulation figures. I would find a publisher that has experience in my genre.  This would be useful because they have more experience in distribution for this specific genre of magazine and they may know the best places to sell and distribute it to. I would distribute my magazine to my target audience, but try to target it in a larger area. I would try to distribute it to major markets  nationally with hand-delivery, transportation/hauling services and special event distribution. There was one particular magazine that used  a specialist media distribution and audience engagement agency. Their heritage is publisher based and they work with the biggest names in the newspapers and magazine industry. They help magazines improve their revenue streams. They have in...

Distribution Post No.3

The magzaine "Eat Well" has a background with a particular distribution agency. Founding Eat Well Distribution was a natural extension of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams’ economic impact on local food producing businesses. Eat Well utilizes Jeni’s independent distribution channels to put other artisan products on store shelves. In addition, Eat Well offers branding and packaging-design services and, most importantly, a product-sampling program for new-to-market foods. Eat Well tailors its structure around the specific services each business client needs. The company comes with the added benefit of lowering Jeni’s costs. Jeni’s and Eat Well also capitalize on the logistical benefits of Columbus’ central location--a major plus for artisan food distributors seeking quick routes to high discretionary spending markets in the Eastern U.S. and Canada. This is a target are, and both of them benefit. Eat Well Distribution represents best-in-class, built-from-the-ground-up foods made w...

Distribution Post No.2

I would be developing a digital strategy and learning to design and implement digital distribution for my brand online. Then, readers will be able to read my magazine anytime and everywhere, which is a really valuable advantage. A good formula for success is a Good Distributor, Digital Platforms, Celebrity Endorsements, Specific Goals, Audience Building, and Knowledge of the Marketplace. Using these methods to publish/distribute my magazine ins tore and on the web would make my product successful. Digital magazine distribution is an entirely different than regular distribution on paper. Digital copies are easier to produce and do not include distribution costs such as shipping and postage. Also, digital editions have the advantage of being current and are therefore most appropriate for time-sensitive materials.  The prevalence of apps to read digital editions on mobile devices makes digital a popular platform for those who prefer the convenience of anytime, anywhere access.Whi...
