Title: Food Network Magazine: Your Thanksgiving Handbook

The cover has a huge turkey on the front to represent the main dish in a Thanksgiving meal. There is writing on to right side which gives headlines on what can be found in the magazine. The background is a cool tone blue and the title is in big letters which says, "Your Thanksgiving Handbook." It states on the top right corer that there are 136 recipes in this magazine as well which adds a little more information to the cover.

There are all kind of recipes, for example, on Jamaican Style Jerk Rice and Sausage (pg.1) and an Italian herb and garlic hearty autumn salad on (pg.1). 

On page 5 it states where you can find the Thanksgiving section which is in page 95 and then the whole page is covered with a plate of food which is the Thanksgiving meal.
On page 3 there is a kitchen aid ad. On page 4 there is an ad for Mezzacorona wine. 

FIX PAGES!!!

On page 6 there is a table of contents. There are 4 pictures in the middle row and they are all of different thing and they are all taken from different angles.On the sides, the titles of the stories are all listed and the page numbers they are on. Then there is a dove ad on the next page.

On page 8 and 9 there is a recipe index which contains all the recipes that the magazine has and they are sectioned into categories, for example, snacks and appetizers, meat and poultry, fish and seafood, etc.

There are several stories. One is called "To Your Health" and there is a  heading which says "dinners under 500 calories", "care for a cup of tea", and "looking good." Following this article, there is an ad for tea which kind of corresponds to the previous article. There was another story on page 22 called "One potato, two potatoes." 

There are several makeup ads like the Maybelline ad on pg.13. 
There are a lot of ads in this magazine. Mostly, they are one after another on each page. A lot of them take up the whole page too. There is another ad for Reynold Wrap on page 19. All the ads are colorful and so are the stories and recipes. They all have pictures to attract the readers attention. There are a different variety of ads and they aren't just food related items.

You can make a subscription to food network magazines and they can be sent to your house.

Project Selection- Film

I find film very fascinating and fun to watch. I've started to notice all the editing and filming techniques in movies. Based off the movies I have seen in class, I think it would be a fun project. All the films were well made, I especially loved the Ferris Bueller film. John Hughes was a very creative and hardworking person and his film was unique because Ferris was talking to the audience, but he made it work. He has inspired me to create a film myself. The skills I possess are my creativity and directing skills. I believe that I would be able to successfully direct the beginning of a film. I'm a hard worker and having good planning skills, so I would my dedication into making this film.  A challenge would be the editing process, but I just need to learn more about editing techniques. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? My magazine follows many of the same conventions that the other food magazines have. My magazine or any magazine uses conventions to persuade the customer into buying it. Cover: My cover states the most delicious and interesting things, and mentions the amount of recipes that there will be in the magazine. There are Buzzwords on the front cover that will tell the buyer some of the interesting articles that can be found in the magazine. They are free and exclusive and for my target audience and this is used well to attract them.The main image represents the idea of my magazine which is healthy eating. The picture is a low angle shot of produce. It is very vibrant and it is an image that would be appealing to the audience. My Masthead on the cover is very large and bold.
